I always jump into a project with both feet and don't look back...as it should be!
I bought Benjamin Moore paint from our local Ace Hardware Store in McKinney and went for it.
I washed the chairs with soapy water and just started painting. No primer was used for these,, just 3 coats of paint. I knew the stencil font I wanted, I had seen it in a magazine. I would love to say I had personally stencilled these chairs, but I did not. I bartered with a friend who does this for a living. I used my favorite numbers, not in any order, and used an "L" on the inside-back of the seat for my last name.
She just transferred the style - enlarged it and used a Sharpie. I have to redo them very soon, the sunlight in my dining room has faded them slightly.
Get the paint out and go for it...you just need to enlarge the numbers and letters on a piece of paper and trace around the edges with a sharp pencil onto the chair. You can easily see the lines (a slight indentation on the leather surface) and follow them as you draw your image on the chair with the Sharpie. Oh, use the really fat Sharpie, you don't want the lines to show.
