We are going to call this McKinney Cottage Schmear. We looked at recipes online & found none that suited or needs. Most used a concrete mortar which was too gritty for the look we wanted. They also had extra steps of wetting the bricks & removing some of the schmear once it was semi-set. Too many steps for us! The style we wanted was best achieved by using a white, porcelain tile mortar. It was economical, easy to mix & apply. Drying time was about 24 hours. From start to finish it took the two of us about 4 hours--it helps working as a team! |
