The hot pink truck is like a beacon calling all foodies to try a whole new eating experience. North Texans need to sample everything on The Guava Tree menu. The style of cooking isn't spicy like typical Latin food. It's fried & fabulous, with generous portions. Just make sure you save a little room for dessert -- the Cuban donuts are CRAZY good! Personally, we "sample" a donut before eating our meals. We like to call this pressert (pre-dessert, a single sampling of dessert before your meal).
Austin, Texas is the birth place of the food truck culture that we have come to know & love. We in North Texas need to embrace the landscape & positive impact that food trucks have on cities. Onel & Pam Perez, are in the process of addressing & changing city food truck codes. Recently, Pam petitioned the McKinney City Council to consider reducing the annual permit fees for food trucks from $1000 to $300. They voted yes! Many cities are reluctant to change, thinking the impact might be a problem for brick & mortar eateries. Restaurants + Customers = more money & local interest. That's a win!
The trucks are back! Starting Sunday, Aug. 23 at 9|8c, The Great Food Truck Race will begin its sixth season in Santa Monica as the food truck operators head out for their 2,500-mile journey along America’s historic Route 66. They’ll be making stops in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Illinois before finishing with an action-packed finale in Chicago. Host Tyler Florence will be leading the teams, this time professional food truck operators, through numerous difficult challenges geared at testing their resolve as a mobile business. The winning food truck team will walk away with $50,000 in cash.
