Old Red Lumberyard Market (ORLY) really surprised us! This years vendors have are a new mix and have an eclectic vibe that drew us in. There are a few "finished" items with a little higher tickets price, but more unique, take it home and DIY pieces with very fair prices. Bargains were there and with a new batch of vendors, we felt they were very attentive to the customers. A big shock for me was The Vintagemobile. We have a friend who has connections to and has been talking about him for ages. He travels all over Dallas and here he was in McKinney! He certainly lived up to his reputation by having great vintage clothing and accessories. The Vintagemobile is a Dallas street market must see & favorite for years. Hope he comes again... everyone needs to keep their eye out for that.
We felt ORLY wasn't as packed to the rafters as usual. A good thing we believe. We were able to photograph the space and really capture the history and charm that comes with ORLY and it's surroundings.
Third Monday has food, where as ORLY hopes you will visit the square for lots of restaurants or cruise south to Baker's on McDonald (Hwy 5) and try one of McKinney's long standing burger joints. A drive in and order at the window place, you can splurge on your weekend calories and get yourself a burger & fries (if you're southern, a sweet tea is in order!).
McKinney's flea markets are thriving, changing and should be visited!
